CNIC Conference 2024

CNIC Conference on Understanding immunity in cardiovascular disease

Madrid, CNIC Auditorium, November 13-15, 2024

The past years have unveiled a crucial role of the immune system in the development, structure, and function of the cardiovascular system, opening previously unrecognized treatment possibilities.

In particular, dysregulation of the immune system and derangement of autoimmune/inflammatory pathways are major determinants of atherosclerosis and also underlies other numerous cardiovascular diseases, including heart failure, cardiomyopathies, pericardial disease, and even rhythm disorders. In the context of myocardial infarction, like in cardiac tissue infections, immune cells migrate to the heart to eliminate dead tissue, pathogens, and aid in the healing process. Yet, immune cells are often harmful, aggravate the original insult and thereby promote irreversible harm to the myocardium, resulting in heart failure.

The Understanding immunity in cardiovascular disease CNIC conference presents a first-class forum to discuss the immunology relevant to cardiovascular research. We will bring together leading experts in cardiovascular immunology and immunotherapy to learn first-hand about their latest findings and insights on the interactions of the immune and cardiovascular systems.

The conference aims to highlight cutting-edge science from the fields of immunology, vascular biology and cardiology, and will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn about how dysregulation of immune cells affects the cardiovascular system, as well as their role in the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, heart failure, and inflammatory cardiomyopathies.

The conference will showcase recent developments in therapeutic targeting of cardiac inflammation, including the use of immunomodulatory drugs, cell-based therapies, and other targeted approaches. Keynote speakers, panel discussions, opportunities to network and presentations on the latest advances in technology will highlight the conference. By fostering collaboration and stimulating new research efforts, Understanding immunity in cardiovascular disease will advance our understanding of cardiovascular biology and therapeutics, and position CNIC as a place of excellence in research and scientific discussion.

The conference will encompass diverse areas crucial to the field, including:

  • Regulation of the immune response in heart repair.
  • Mechanisms controlling cardiovascular inflammation.
  • Autoimmunity in cardiac disease.
  • Novel mechanisms of inflammatory cardiomyopathies.
  • Immune responses in atherosclerosis.
  • Immune cell-cell interactions in cardiovascular disease.
  • Single cell immunoprofiling of cardiovascular disease.
